Selangor empowers education, provides assistance from young age

GOMBAK, July 31 — Selangor sets education as its priority in order to create a knowledgeable and excellent community for the state’s brighter future, says Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.

Therefore, he said eight incentives were outlined under the Iltizam Selangor Penyayang (ISP) initiative, aiming to empower the education sector starting from when the children are young.

Amirudin said the assistance programmes under the ISP are the Selangor People’s Tutoring Programme (PTRS), Iltizam Mahasiswa Selangor, Peduli Siswa and the Selangor School Aid.

“Also included are the Inisiatif Kemahiran Teknikal dan Ikhtisas Smart Selangor, Skim Bantuan Tadika Selangor (Tunas), Skim Bantuan Asuhan Anakku (Asuh Pintar) and Skim Pinjaman Teknologi Asas Selangor.

“We started our effort from the bottom up, to ensure all (children) especially those in the low-income group do not drop out of education. We also provide recipients of the Selangor kindergarten (Tunas) programme with RM50 monthly.

“We also have the Asuh Pintar assistance programme that provides some allocation to kindergarten operators so that they can improve the quality of education.

“As of now, we have eight educational programmes and we will use these schemes to improve the educational sector in Selangor,” he said during the Selangor Penyayang roadshow at Padang Awam Batu Caves in Gombak, here today.

Previously, similar events were held at Taman Kosas Ampang Jaya, Dataran Pantai Morib Kuala Langat, Stadium Utama Kuala Lumpur and Dataran Boulevard Laman MBPJ (Petaling Jaya City Council).
