Selangor Penyayang roadshow in Petaling to focus on single mothers, special needs children

SHAH ALAM, July 22 — The Selangor Penyayang roadshow will continue at Dataran Boulevard, Laman MBPJ (Petaling Jaya City Council) this Sunday (July 24), providing many initiatives and interesting activities for the people.

The programme, which runs from 8am to 5.30pm, was enhanced from the previous Inisiatif Peduli Rakyat (IPR) and will be officiated by Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.

At the event themed ‘Kasih Keluarga Negeri Penyayang’, Amirudin is scheduled to launch the Anak Istimewa Selangor (AnIS) and Wanita Berdaya Selangor (WDS) Single Mother Development programmes.

Also scheduled to take place at the event is the handover of the Single Mother Development Grant, AnIS special assistance (five people), Didik AnIS (three centres) as well as awards to two AnIS icons.

The event will feature a number of activities, such as musical performances by artists such as Ernie Zakri and Hazama, aerobics, a cooking contest, a flower-arrangement competition, community sports competitions, exhibitions and sales.

The public can also purchase basic necessities such as chicken, chicken eggs, meat bones, meat as well as mackerel and selayang fish at the Jualan Prihatin Rakyat affordable good sale which will also be held there.

The initiative’s RM350 million allocation is aimed at replacing the IPR programme, as it will benefit a greater number of individuals.

Also included in the event is the Selangor Saring free health screening programme, with a total allocation of RM1.5 million and is expected to benefit 5,000 people especially those in risky groups.

Before this, the same event was held in Taman Kosas, Ampang Jaya in Hulu Langat, Dataran Pantai Morib in Kuala Langat and Stadium Utama Kuala Selangor which saw encouraging feedback.

The roadshow will end at Padang Awam Batu Caves, Gombak on July 31.
