Selangor PH ready for early polls

PETALING JAYA, July 24 — Selangor’s Pakatan Harapan (PH) has formulated various strategies to prepare for the 15th General Election (GE15) if the country goes for early polls.

Selangor Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Leadership Council chairman Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said early preparation is being made following the possibility of Parliament being dissolved early before the end of its term in 2023.

“Why are we holding roadshows? It is because we need to be prepared, as even if Selangor does not want an early poll and suddenly the Parliament is dissolved early, we still need to go for the general election.

“There are 22 parliamentary seats in Selangor that need to be contested. If we are not ready, the enemy will surprise us with a trap,” he said when delivering his speech during the Selangor PH Mega Roadshow at the Dewan Serbaguna in Section 7, Kota Damansara, here yesterday.

Amirudin who is also Selangor Menteri Besar hinted that the state’s election may be held between March to May next year.

“Selangor may hold the (state) election next year, we do not want to follow the Federal government if they decided to go for early polls. We plan to proceed with the state’s election when the term has ended, probably in March, April or May next year,” he said.
