Selangor promotes state aviation show at Farnborough International Airshow

SHAH ALAM, July 20 — Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari officiated the pre-launch of the Selangor Aero Park at the Farnborough International Airshow 2022 (FIA 2022) in Farnborough, the United Kingdom, earlier today.

In a Facebook post, he said aside from creating an interest in the Selangor Aero Park, he is also there to promote the Selangor Aviation Show 2022 (SAS 2022) to international visitors at the world’s premier air show.

“Alhamdulillah, I am in the UK to head a delegation by the Selangor government on a mission to promote the Selangor Aviation Show the Farnborough International Airshow from July 18 to July 22.

“During this time I also officiated the pre-launch of the Selangor Aero Park to introduce it to FIA visitors,” Amirudin said.

He added the delegation conducted a meeting with French software corporation Dassault Systèmes to discuss a collaboration between them and Selangor.

“We discussed exploring a cooperation between Dassault and the state government through the Selangor Technical Skills Development Centre (STDC),” Amirudin said.

The Menteri Besar also briefed the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, who visited the Malaysian Pavillion there under the management of the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (Matrade) alongside a strategic collaboration with Invest Selangor Bhd (Invest Selangor).

“I presented a short briefing on the development of the aerospace industry in Selangor to His Majesty,” he said.

The second instalment of the SAS 2022 will be held from September 8 to September 10 at the Skypark Regional Aviation Centre (Skypark RAC Subang) and aims to attract at least 8,000 visitors and some 70 booths from local and international companies.

As the only business aviation show in the region, SAS 2022 has been planned to be held on a bigger scale than last year’s version, with over 38,000 square metres of exhibition area spanning two hangars at the Skypark RAC Subang.

The tarmac sections within the Skypark RAC area will also showcase roughly 30 static displays of aircraft and helicopters, including luxury private planes.

SAS 2021, which was held from November 25 to 27 last year, recorded a total of 4,987 visitors in its three-day run.

The inaugural event also saw the participation of 43 exhibitors from seven countries, including Turkey, the United States, Brazil and France.
