Sembuh Exhibition ideal for young talent to display themselves

SHAH ALAM, July 6 — The Sembuh Exhibition at Universiti Teknologi Mara’s (UiTM) Creative Media Hub is the most suitable platform for young artists to showcase their art for the first time.

Galeri Shah Alam director Alina Abdullah said the exhibition, done in collaboration UiTM, gathered 45 works of paintings, sculptures and new media by youths from the ages of six to 30 from all over Malaysia.

“It is a starting point for those who have never held a solo exhibition. This space is vital in placing one’s self in the local art field and as such building their careers.

“So we are making an open call to young artists, hoping that after this they will not be afraid to try and showcase their works to larger exhibitions,” she said when met.

The exhibition, themed Bangkit Dalam Segala, was officiated by Galeri G13 managing director Kenny Teng at Bangunan Perpustakaan Tun Abdul Razak earlier today.

Alina added the exhibition will continue next year under a different theme, as well as targeting more participants.

“We are constantly providing the space and a site for young artists to display their talents and boost the creative arts industry,” she said.

Running from July 4 to July 21, the exhibition also features other activities including healing arts workshops and talk sessions.

Members of the public who are interested can visit the exhibition from 9am to 4.30pm from Monday to Friday.
