SHAH ALAM, July 28 — The state government has plans to transform Selangor’s southern region, particularly the Sepang district, into an international tourism destination.
State executive councillor for tourism Hee Loy Sian said the move would increase tourism, raising the state’s economic value and creating more jobs for the locals.
“We plan to develop this project near Sepang, where it consists of a few upcoming five-star hotels.
“The project is anticipated to be developed in stages within 10 years. Hopefully in five years to come, we could already see the progress,” he said when met after launching Tukang – The First Craftsmanship Project in Selangor at the Selangor State Legislative Building here today.
Yesterday, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari unveiled that the First Selangor Plan consist of four main strategic themes including strengthening the tourism industry within a five-year period from 2021 until 2025.
