SIBS’ main aim is to make Selangor global business hub — Exco

SHAH ALAM, July 5 — The Selangor International Business Summit (SIBS) 2022 which will take place in October is part of the effort to make the state a hub of international commerce, said state executive councillor for trade and investment Dato’ Teng Chang Khim.

He said endeavours in that direction have been made in the past eight years, through the Selangor International Expo which focuses on food and beverages.

“That was the starting point and from there, we continue until we became a bigger event that is SIBS, which has six main events.

“This is an encouraging development and it is our strategy for all international trade to be conducted in Selangor,” Teng said during the press conference following the launch of SIBS 2022 at The Saujana Hotel Kuala Lumpur, earlier today.

He added that SIBS’ six main events include the Selangor International Expo (Food and Beverage), the Selangor International Expo (Medicine) the Selangor Industrial Park Expo, Selangor Smart City and Digital Economy, Selangor Research and Development, and the Innovation Expo and Asian Business Conference.

SIBS 2022 will take place from October 6 to October 9 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Center (KLCC).

The state government is aiming for potential sales of up to RM350 million, in addition to attracting some 30,000 visitors during the four-day programme.
