Three Selangor districts to undergo stormy weather — MetMalaysia

By Nasuha Badrul Huzaini

SHAH ALAM, July 19 — Thunderstorms, heavy rains and strong wind are expected to hit three Selangor districts, namely Hulu Selangor, Gombak and Hulu Langat, until 7pm today.

In a warning issued by the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) at 4pm, the agency said similar weather conditions are also expected in Kedah (Kuala Muda, Sik, Baling, Kulim and Bandar Baharu) and Penang.

“Other states and areas which will also experience strong weather include Kuala Lumpur, Perak, Kelantan (Jeli, Tanah Merah and Kuala Krai), Pahang (Cameron Highlands, Raub and Bentong),” said the agency.

MetMalaysia issues warnings whenever signs indicate a thunderstorm with a rain intensity exceeding 20 mm that is close to or is expected to occur for more than an hour.

A thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning valid for a period not exceeding six hours for a single release.
