SHAH ALAM, July 28 — Heavy rains, strong winds and thunderstorms are expected to hit four districts in Selangor until 4pm today, said the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia).
In a statement issued at 12.30pm, the agency said the districts include Sabak Bernam, Gombak, Petaling and Hulu Langat.
“Other states and territories which will undergo similar weather patterns include Kuala Lumpur, Negeri Sembilan (Jempol and Tampin), Perak (Bagan Datuk and Hilir Perak), Pahang (Bera and Rompin), Melaka (Jasin) and Johor (Tangkak, Segamat, Muar, Kluang, Mersing and Kulai),” it said.
The agency issues warnings whenever signs indicate a thunderstorm with a rain intensity exceeding 20 mm that is close to or is expected to occur for more than an hour.
A thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning valid for a period not exceeding six hours for a single release.
