Tourism Selangor promotes sports tourism, golf tournament attracts 132 participants

PETALING JAYA, July 23 — The fourth Tourism Selangor Golf Tournament 2022 saw a participation of 132 people at the Seri Selangor Golf Club, Kota Damansara here, today.

Tourism Selangor chief executive officer Azrul Shah Mohamad said participants from from various countries, including Brunei, Japan, the United Kingdom, Korea, and Singapore, as well as representatives of state government departments and subsidiaries, participated in this year’s 18-hole competition.

“The tournament is part of the effort to promote the ‘Pusing Selangor Dulu’ campaign and is held annually at different locations and golf courses.

“InsyaAllah (God willing), this tournament will be on the annual schedule, and we intend to host a larger, livelier event with more participants next year,” he said when met after the closing ceremony of the Tourism Selangor Golf Tournament 2022, which was officiated by state executive councillor for tourism Hee Loy Sian.

According to Azrul, there are 30 golf clubs of a high international calibre in Selangor that are popular with both local and foreign players.

“There is no doubt that golf has grown in popularity in Malaysia and around the world, and Selangor has a lot of promise for the sport. I have faith that this sport will assist the state’s economy,” he said.

The fourth installation of the golf tournament today offered trophies and lucky draw prizes of up to RM200,000.

The tournament was also supported by and received sponsorships from Tourism Malaysia, Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated) or MBI, Selgate Corporation, Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS); Permodalan Negeri Selangor Bhd and The Malaysian Golf Association.
