SHAH ALAM, Aug 30 — A total of 2,000 packets of cooking oil were sold out within three hours at the Jualan Mega Merdeka programme in Dataran Pantai Batu Laut, Tanjung Sepat, on Sunday (August 28) last week.

That achievement broke the record as the highest sale recorded since Selangor Agricultural Development Corporation (PKPS) started the affordable goods sale in December last.

PKPS said aside from cooking oil that was sold at 50 sen per kilogramme (kg), other items that also grabbed buyers’ attention were chicken, eggs and rice.

The state-owned corporation said it received more than 700 visitors and recorded RM48,000 in sales during the five hours of the programme.

It added that about 250 visitors had also thronged its Jualan Prihatin Rakyat programme in Kampung Kubu Gajah, Paya Jaras, on Saturday (August 27).

A variety of items were sold at the Jualan Prihatin Rakyat programme, including whole chicken at RM15, cooking oil at RM2.50 per kg, grade B chicken eggs at RM12.50 per tray, beef at RM36 per pack, vegetables and fruits at farm prices, and fish at RM10 per pack.
