Affordable sales programme to offer goods for as low as RM5 at nine districts until Nov

By Mustakim Ramli

SHAH ALAM, Aug 31 — Selangor’s affordable sales programme that offers goods for as low as RM5 will run concurrently for three months in all nine state districts starting September 6.

State executive councillor for agricultural modernisation and agro-based industry Izham Hashim said the location of the Jelajah Jualan Ehsan Rakyat Selangor tour programme will be announced on Selangor Agricultural Development Corporation (PKPS) social media channels.

“The sales of the subsidised goods are fully borne by the Selangor government and aim to help ease the burden on the people through the recent allocation of an additional RM10 million for the programme.

“The quantity allocated for each product that will be sold during the programme is 1,000 units, for example, 1,000 chickens and 1,000 fish. This is the amount that will be allocated at the beginning and if there is more demand, we will increase it,” he said yesterday.

He said this at the launch of the Jelajah Jualan Ehsan Rakyat tour, which was officiated by Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari at the Dataran Kemerdekaan here, last night.

Izham said among the products that will be sold for RM5 during the tour programme are chicken, fish, imported meat, grade B chicken eggs and five kilogrammes (kg) of rice.

“If you want to compare the price we offer with the market price, a chicken weighing 1.8 kg is sold for RM16, fish (RM10), imported meat (RM13.90), grade B chicken eggs (RM12.90) and five kg of rice RM13. You can never get these items at the price we offer. The state is willing to offer (it cheap) for the people,” he said.
