SHAH ALAM, Aug 31 — The state government has decided to increase the household income threshold for recipients of the Air Darul Ehsan Scheme from RM4,000 to RM5,000 and below.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said currently close to 300,000 people in the state qualify for 20 square metres of free water per household.

“Beginning in October, new registrations for the scheme will be opened to the public. Previously to qualify a household had to earn RM4,000 and below, but now this has been increased to RM5,000 and below,” he said.

Amirudin was speaking at the state-wide celebrations to mark the 65th National Day in Dataran Kemerdekaan Shah Alam, yesterday night.

“In order to realise this, an additional allocation of over RM30 million has been set aside to that effect. The scheme is one way to guarantee the lives and prosperity of the people of Selangor,” he said.
