Exco: Broiler breeding project in Ulu Bernam expected to complete by end 2022

SERDANG, Aug 7 — The poultry farming project in Ulu Bernam, Hulu Selangor, which started a few months ago, is expected to be completed by the end of this year at the latest, says Izham Hashim.

The state executive councillor for agricultural modernisation and agro-based industry said that the project run by the Selangor Agricultural Development Corporation (PKPS) had been planned since last year to increase the production of broiler chickens by 300,000 for each cycle, for a total of 800,000.

“The budget for this project has been approved, and the project is now being put into action. It costs a lot due to its modern design, but it pays off in many ways.

“There will be 10 closed chicken barns built, each of which can hold between 250,000 and 300,000 chickens,” he said.

Earlier, Izham attended a ceremony introducing the new variety of dragon fruit ‘Pink Ruby’ at the Selangor Pavilion during the Malaysia Agriculture, Horticulture, and Agrotourism (2022 Maha) expo at the Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang (Maeps) here, yesterday.

On July 25, Izham said that PKPS was planning to start another broiler breeding project in Ulu Bernam, Hulu Selangor, to address the chicken shortage in the state.

He said that PKPS was also actively cleaning up a 400-acre site for a grain corn project in Gemas, Negri Sembilan, and a 300-acre site in south Kuala Langat, Selangor, which is expected to be completed this month.
