SHAH ALAM, August 2 — The Selangor Saring free health screening programme will continue in four state constituencies this weekend (August 6 and August 7).

State executive councillor for public health Dr Siti Mariah Mahmuad said the programme will be held on Saturday at Dewan Serbaguna Sentosa for the Sentosa state constituency, and in Dewan Vanilla for the Kota Kemuning state constituency.

On Sunday, it will be held at Dewan MBSA Kemuning Utama for the Sungai Kandis state constituency, and at Level One in the Klang Parade Shopping Mall for the Bandar Baru Klang state constituency.

She said since its launch the programme has been met with good responses at all locations where it was held, including at the Sungai Tua and Gombak Setia state constituencies on July 31.

“People of all ages and races have taken this chance to participate in this state government initiative, which reflects the people’s high concern for their health,” Dr Siti Mariah said on Facebook.

She added that people in need of getting medical checks will appreciate the initiative after taking into account the high living costs and medical treatment today.

“You may think you are alright and do not need it but others may not necessarily share the same fate as you, as the realities of our lives are different,” Dr Siti Mariah said.

The state government has allocated RM1.5 million for the Selangor Saring programme to detect chronic diseases, which will benefit 5,000 people, especially those at risk.
