Historic Treasures Gazette Enactment to be tabled at upcoming state assembly — Exco

KLANG, Aug 18 — The Selangor government will bring the Historic Treasures Gazette Enactment to the Selangor State Legislative Assembly, which is expected to take place in November.

State Rural Development, Village Traditions, Malay Customs, Culture and Heritage Committee chairman Borhan Aman Shah said the move would enable the Selangor government to self-proclaim historic treasures found in the state.

Borhan said that for the time being, he needs to deal with the National Heritage Department (JWN) for that purpose.

“(Now) we need to apply to the National Heritage Department, then ask permission from the Selangor State Executive Council, before we can (gazette),” he told reporters after officiating the Klang Royal City Heritage Trail Workshop Series Two here yesterday.

The workshop organised by the Klang Municipal Council was held as a move to preserve and conserve historical treasures in the district and was attended by 50 participants consisting of employees of public and private agencies.

Meanwhile, Borhan said that so far in the Klang district, the Gedung Raja Abdullah has been gazetted as a state historical treasure while the Jambatan Kota and the Public Library (Klang District Library) are in the application process.

He said that Gedung Raja Abdullah which is the first administrative centre of the state government is undergoing renovation and will be open to visitors from December or early next year.
