IGP directs state, district police chiefs to cooperate with media

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 1 — The Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Tan Sri Acryl Sani Abdullah has instructed all state and district police chiefs to cooperate with the media in channelling any necessary information.

He said this was to avoid any confusion of information and misunderstanding, especially among the community.

“This is to enable all police chiefs (states and districts) to play a role in assisting the media.

“Many of the cases that happen are routine ones, so why do I have to limit it to the RMP (Royal Malaysia Police) Department director (to give media statements)? It is the role of the police chiefs (states and districts) to give any information to the media,” he told reporters at an RMP dinner with the media in Bukit Aman here yesterday.

Also present was the director of the Bukit Aman Internal Security and Public Order Department, Datuk Seri Hazani Ghazali.
