Kumpulan Semesta plants almost 300 trees at Firefly Conservation Centre

SHAH ALAM, Aug 30 — Kumpulan Semesta Sdn Bhd (KSSB) has planted nearly 300 trees of various species at the Firefly Conservation Centre, Sungai Panjang, Sabak Bernam, on Saturday (August 27).

Its Corporate Communications Department head Suhaimi Khalidi said the planting of 200 berembang trees, 20 sago trees, 10 nipah trees and 66 coconut trees was aimed at preserving the habitat and population of fireflies in the area.

“In addition, it can help boost the local community economy when local and international tourists come to see the fireflies,” he said in a statement.

He said the programme was also participated by the local community as well as the Sabak Bernam Land and District Office, the Sabak Bernam District Council, the Sabak Bernam District Police headquarters and the Sabak Bernam Fire and Rescue Department.

Other agencies that also took part were the Malaysia Civil Defence Force, the Sabak Bernam Drainage and Irrigation Department, the Sabak Bernam District Forestry Department and the Selangor Agricultural Development Corporation (PKPS).
