SHAH ALAM, Aug 31 — The state government will launch the Insurans Hayat Selangor (Insan) general insurance scheme for all Selangor residents, with lifetime coverage, said Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.

He said in light of the experiences and challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic and several natural disasters including heavy flooding, Selangor will move to protect all its people.

“This will be done with a programme named Insan. It offers lifetime protection for all people in Selangor, from 30 days of age to 80 years old.

“Either one of two conditions must be met to qualify, the first is that one is born in Selangor, and the second is that one is a voter in Selangor. Fulfilling any one of these conditions will qualify an individual for protection under Insan,” Amirudin said.

He was speaking at the state-wide celebrations to mark the 65th National Day in Dataran Kemerdekaan Shah Alam, yesterday night.

With a value of RM10,000, the Menteri Besar said the insurance will be paid out for every loss of life caused by accidents. Registration for Insan will be opened on October 1, 2022.

“It also includes those who sustain permanent disabilities, or experience loss of limbs. With this, the Insan lifetime insurance protection scheme can guarantee a dignified life filled with self-worth, for all Selangor residents,” he said.

Earlier yesterday, Amirudin stated up to six million Selangor residents will be offered the general insurance scheme, with an estimated total protection value of RM60 billion.
