Listen to voices of women — Permaisuri Agong

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 25 — The Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Hajah Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah today urged everyone to listen to the voices of women fighting for their rights.

Her Majesty said she personally would continue to support any movement that fights for the rights of women, both at the local and international levels.

“It is all about women empowerment and gender equality. It is important to listen to women fighting for their rights,” Tunku Azizah said at the National Women’s Day celebration here today.

Her Majesty also applauded women for playing important roles in Malaysia, including as peacemakers that are important to maintaining peace and harmony in the country.

At the event organised by the National Council of Women’s Organisations Malaysia (NCWO), Tunku Azizah also launched a book on NCWO founders titled Keberanian Pelopor NCWO.

The event was also attended by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Rina Harun, and Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri.
