Maha 2022: Selangor Pavilion records over 50,000 visitors, quarter mln sales

SHAH ALAM, August 15 — The Selangor Pavilion at the Malaysia Agriculture, Horticulture and Agro-Tourism (Maha) Exhibition 2022, recorded over 50,000 visitors during the 11-day exhibition that ended yesterday.

State executive councillor for agricultural modernisation and agro-based industry Izham Hashim said the state pavilion located at the Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang (Maeps) also recorded sales valued at RM250,000.

“The Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj, the Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin and the Raja Muda of Selangor Tengku Amir Shah graced the Selangor Pavilion on August 9.

“Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari and Selangor State Secretary Datuk Haris Kassim also visited the pavilion on the same day,” he told SelangorKini.

Izham added that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, as well as the cabinet minister and deputy ministers related to the agriculture sector similarly visited the state pavilion.

“The Selangor Pavilion at the Maha exhibition this year became one of the most popular places frequented by visitors from various walks of life,” he said.

Selangor emerged as the runner-up for the best state pavilion category contest during Maha. The winner is the Perak Pavilion while the third place was won by the Kedah Pavilion.

Selangor Pavilion featured projects that coincided with the theme ‘Food Security for the Future’.

Maha 2022, which ran from August 4 to August 14, is the largest and most prestigious agricultural exhibition in Malaysia which brings together 1,500 exhibitors.

A total of eight parks on agriculture and animal husbandry were showcased, in addition to another 22 segments with their own attractions.

Yesterday, Agriculture and Food Industry Minister Datuk Seri Ronald Kiandee said Maha 2022 recorded a spectacular response with over 1.4 million visitors and registering sales of over RM260 million, exceeding its set targets.
