SHAH ALAM, August 1 — Several state leaders paid their last respect to the late Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim at the Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah here today.

Among them are Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari and state executive councillors including Dato’ Teng Chang Khim, Rodziah Ismail, Mohd Khairuddin Othman and Hee Loy Sian.

Also present were Selangor State Secretary Dato’ Haris Kasim, as well as several state assemblymen Elizabeth Wong (Bukit Lanjan), Najwan Halimi (Kota Anggerik), Hasnul Baharuddin (Morib) and Sekinchan state representative Ng Suee Lim who is also the Selangor State Legislative Assembly speaker.

Meanwhile, Amirudin when met here today described the late Abdul Khalid as a firm leader who always emphasised the importance of being punctual.

He said the former menteri besar actions set a good example for those who have worked with him.

“I am thankful for his contribution all this while…I was directly involved with him from 2008 until 2014 when I served as an assistant to the state executive councillor for sports at that time.

“I had the chance to meet him and indeed, his actions and instructions were valuable for anyone who had worked with him, including me,” he said after paying his last respect to the late Abdul Khalid at the Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah State Mosque.

Amirudin also praised the late Abdul Khalid’s services and sacrifices in implementing big changes in the state administration when appointed as the Menteri Besar.

“Among his services include inspiring the rejuvenation and development along Sungai Klang, which is greatly appreciated as it is still being continued by the state government until now, aside from introducing a pro-people agenda.

“Therefore, on behalf of the state government, I convey my condolences to his family and may they stay strong in facing this test. May Allah bless the late Abdul Khalid’s soul,” he added.

Abdul Khalid breathed his last at 11.08pm yesterday at the Cardiac Vascular Sentral Sentral due to an infection of a heart valve.

Earlier, his remains were brought to Saidina Umar Al Khattab Mosque in Bukit Damansara, Kuala Lumpur, for a funeral prayer before being brought to the Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah State Mosque.

Khalid will be laid to rest at the Shah Alam Royal Mausoleum in Section 5, here.

Born in Jeram, Kuala Selangor, Khalid left behind his wife, Puan Sri Salbiah Tunut, four children and two grandchildren.
