SHAH ALAM, Aug 25 — A total of 85 Media Selangor Sdn Bhd employees underwent their corruption-free pledges (IBR) in an effort to eradicate unethical behaviour and to maintain their integrity.

The event, held at the Selangor State Development Corporation’s Dato’ Seri Harun Idris Auditorium, was led by MSSB chief executive officer Mohamed Fareed Mohamed Ashaaree.

It was witnessed by Selangor Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) deputy director Ridzuan Abd Malik and Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated) or MBI chief executive officer Norita Mohd Sidek.

In his speech, Ridzuan said efforts to combat graft is not solely upon the company management, but also requires cooperation from all its employees.

He said each employee must maintain their integrity by avoiding involvement in any corrupt act, including making false claims.

“Practice good governance and stay away from corrupt practices, this responsibility is not solely MBI’s or the company management, as it needs to involve all.

“As much as possible, we must say no to graft and refrain from engaging in any sort of criminal acts, including making false claims for travel and overtime work,” Ridzuan said during the ceremony.

Meanwhile, Mohamed Fareed said the pledge was part of the company’s strategic initiative to instil awareness and educate its employees on the importance of combating graft.

“The pledge and promises taken by the leadership of this organisation and its employees is aimed at ensuring everyone is more responsible, to improve their integrity, and practise good corporate governance while carrying out their duties.

“Media Selangor welcomes and fully supports this effort. It is part of our ‘jihad’ (struggle) to clean up the country of corruption,” he said in his speech.

Mohamed Fareed added MSSB’s management is also in the process of establishing a special integrity unit to fight graft.

“We also prepared the Integrity and Governance Report every year, aside from working closely with MBI by participating in its training and programmes to strengthen the company’s daily operations,” he said.

The Corruption-Free Pledge was initiated by MACC in 2018, and emphasises the oaths voluntarily taken by an organisation’s leadership and members.

The objective is to ensure that each of them performs their duties with integrity and is accountable for their actions. It is also to prevent them from engaging in corrupt misconduct throughout their tenure.
