Nearly 30,000 families to benefit from RM3,600 aid annually — MB

SHAH ALAM, Aug 29 — Close to 30,000 poorer families receive RM300 a month via the Bantuan Kehidupan Sejahtera Sejahtera (Bingkas) scheme, which was launched on July 1.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the scheme under Iltizam Selangor Penyayang (ISP) initiative fulfils the aim of helping the needy.

“The state government is looking at almost 30,000 families who will receive this assistance. Of this figure, 21,000 include existing recipients.

“Some applications are facing technical issues, including a change in phone numbers, but we are addressing these issues to ensure those eligible will receive the benefits,” he said.

Amirudin was speaking after officiating the closing ceremony for the Bulan Falak Selangor 2022 programme, organised by the Selangor Mufti’s Department, at De Palma Hotel earlier today.

On August 1, state executive councillor for investment Dato’ Teng Chang Khim said Bingkas payments are distributed through the Wavpay e-wallet so that it is easier for recipients to spend.

Bingkas, replacing the Kasih Ibu Smart Selangor (KISS) and KISS IT (Ibu Tunggal) schemes, involves a RM108 million allocation, with prospective beneficiaries receiving assistance of RM3,600 per year.
