In a statement issued at 2.50pm, the agency said the districts include Kuala Selangor, Hulu Selangor, Klang, Gombak, Petaling and Hulu Langat.

“Other states and territories which will also see heavy rains, strong winds and thunderstorms include Kuala Lumpur, Betong in Sarawak, Batang Padang dan Muallim in Perak, as well as Jelebu and Seremban in Negeri Sembilan.

“Pahang (Tanah Tinggi Cameron, Lipis, Raub and Bentong) Johor (Kluang, Mersing, Pontian, Kulai, Kota Tinggi and Johor Bahru) along with Sabah: Pedalaman (Beaufort and Tambunan) and Pantai Barat (Tuaran, Ranau and Kota Belud) will also be affected,” it said.

The weather pattern is expected to persist until 6pm.

MetMalaysia issues warnings whenever signs indicate a thunderstorm with a rain intensity exceeding 20 mm that is close to or is expected to occur for more than an hour.

A thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning valid for a period not exceeding six hours for a single release.
