Pekawanis to promote Plats in all local councils, help traders boost income

SUBANG JAYA, Aug 20 — Selangor Women’s Welfare and Charity Organisation (Pekawanis) will begin promoting the Selangor Platform (Plats) to traders and hawkers statewide as the programme brings benefits to the family economy.

Its president Datin Seri Masdiana Muhamad said she and other members will visit all local councils in the state to promote the digital platform.

“Our team will be accompanied by Selangor Digital Partner (RDS) ambassadors so they can immediately register interested traders and hawkers. Next week we will begin filming a video about Plats to be used as promotional material.

“The digital platform has helped small traders continue their businesses which were affected by Covid-19. We hope that Plats participants can generate extra income through the programme,” she said during a walkabout to Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MBSJ) Pasar Budaya Borneo in Seri Kembangan here today.

Also present were Subang Jaya deputy mayor Mohd Zulkurnain Che Ali, Seri Kembangan state assemblyman Ean Yong Hian Wah and Permodalan Negeri Selangor Berhad (PNSB) chief operating officer Mohd Helmi Dato’ Mohd Yusof.

During the walkabout, a total of 54 traders at the market accepted the offer to enrol in the Plats programme.

Masdiana, who is also Selangor Menteri Besar’s wife, distributed Selangor Internet Data’s SIM cards with free internet data to make it easier for the traders to conduct transactions on the digital platform.

Plats were first introduced during the month of Ramadan two years ago, to complete the Selangor Digitalisation Agenda ecosystem with a digital platform, following the spread of the Covid-19 epidemic.

On April 11 last year, Plats 2.0 was launched to help traders generate continuous income instead of only being limited to the fasting month.

Plats 3.0 was again continued this April, with a collaboration between Permodalan Negeri Selangor Berhad (PNSB), RDS, and the state’s 12 local authorities.
