KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 22 — The Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS) is developing a building designed to be a one-stop centre for aspiring entrepreneurs under PKNS programmes.
Chief executive officer Datuk Mahmud Abbas said that as the development arm of Selangor, PKNS, in extending its commitment to promote the state’s socio-economic growth, will continue to support the state’s efforts to retain Selangor’s position as the top contributor to Malaysia’s gross domestic product (GDP).
“PKNS has nurtured over 41,000 business owners through various programmes over the last 27 years, and is committed to supporting the social and economic growth of the state with a holistic recovery plan,” he said in a statement recently in conjunction with PKNS’ 58th anniversary.
To date, PKNS has 13 subsidiaries spanning property and development, real estate, construction and engineering, wholesale and retail, educational services as well as the healthcare and recreational sector.
Besides that, with 2,000 clinics under Selgate Corporation, PKNS also aims to develop more healthcare facilities and explore merging and acquisition opportunities with existing healthcare providers.
It also aims to probe more strategic partnerships in investment and equity shareholding, as well as management services and administration of corporate employee healthcare benefits; all with a view to providing affordable quality healthcare.
Selgate is a wholly owned subsidiary of PKNS.
Mahmud said PKNS plans to develop assisted living facilities, beginning with the introduction of its Selcare Hospital.
With the aspiration to create value for the state’s economy, benefiting the state’s residents and the targeted community at large, the hospital will focus on catering to local residents’ needs.
From dedicated care facilities to a wide range of social and recreational amenities and activities, PKNS aims to promote active and healthy lifestyles among residents of all ages.
“PKNS remains confident in its well-diversified strategic recovery plan. The biggest contributor to our recovery plan lies within our well-diversified holistic approach.
“Aside from our core focus in affordable housing, PKNS is also aggressively strengthening our presence in a variety of other sectors,” Mahmud said.
Selangor showed signs of revival in 2021, with a five per cent increment of GDP compared to 2020.
Selangor remainS the largest economy in Malaysia, with a value-added of RM343.5 billion, compared to RM327.1 billion in the previous year.
