Selangor reorganises three main state subsidiaries to reduce burden — MB

By Siti Rohaizah Zainal

SHAH ALAM, Aug 2 — Three main state subsidiaries have been reorganised so as to make them more focused and not burden one other, said Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.

He said Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated) or MBI, the Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS), and the Selangor Agricultural Development Corporation (PKPS) have been maintained since Pakatan Harapan (then Pakatan Rakyat) took over the state administration in 2008.

“Some have questioned the state government subsidiaries’ abilities. These three subsidiaries (MBI, PKNS, PKPS) throughout Pakatan’s administration have been reorganised and maintained so as not to burden each other.

“For example, when we took over PKPS in 2008, its financial position was not stable, but is now able to generate projects and increase palm oil yields, in addition to focusing on projects including chicken farming and vegetable cultivation,” Amirudin said.

He was speaking during the winding-up session for the First Selangor Plan (RS-1) at the Selangor State Legislative Assembly earlier today.

“Similarly with MBI, we carried out the restructuring so there are no dividend risks and some subsidiaries possess multiple financial capabilities as a result of large investments with domestic and foreign companies,” Amirudin said.

The plan, tabled by the Menteri Besar on July 27, takes into account the implementation aspects of the comprehensive policies, projects and initiatives between the state and the Federal government.

RS-1’s development has four strategic themes, namely strengthening the economy, ensuring social inclusivity and the people’s wellbeing, driving environmental sustainability, and providing good and effective governance.
