Six Selangor districts to see stormy weather until 7pm

SHAH ALAM, Aug 14 — Heavy rains, thunderstorms and strong winds are expected to hit six districts in Selangor until 7pm today, says the Malaysian Meteorological Department.

In a warning issued at 4pm, the agency said the districts include Sabak Bernam, Kuala Selangor, Hulu Selangor, Petaling, Hulu Langat and Sepang.

“Similar weather patterns are also anticipated in several other states including Perak (Larut, Matang and Selama, Manjung, Kinta, Perak Tengah, Kampar, Bagan Datuk, Hilir Perak, Batang Padang and Muallim), Terengganu (Setiu, Hulu Terengganu, Dungun and Kemaman) and Pahang (Cameron Highlands, Raub, Jerantut and Kuantan.

“The inclement weather also is expected to persist in Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Negeri Sembilan (Jelebu, Seremban and Port Dickson) and Johor in Mersing as well as Kota Tinggi,” said the agency.

MetMalaysia issues warnings whenever signs indicate a thunderstorm with a rain intensity exceeding 20 mm that is close to or is expected to occur for more than an hour.

A thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning valid for a period not exceeding six hours for a single release.
