SHAH ALAM, Aug 1— The state government has distributed RM132.628 million to aid those who were affected by the December 2021 floods, says Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.

He said under the Bantuan Selangor Bangkit (BSB) cash aid programme, a total of 126,041 heads of families have received RM1,000, while the next-of-kin of 17 people who passed away in the incident received RM10,000 each, as part of the state government’s effort to alleviate their burden.

“According to the Department of Statistics, over 60 per cent of Selangor citizens managed to resume their normal lives in less than a month after the flood occurred.

“Our strategies in addressing flood-related issues including managing the solid waste have been well-implemented and the aid has helped the people in regaining their spirits.

“The state executive councillors also have performed their tasks efficiently while the state government acts as the facilitator,” he said during the Selangor State Legislative Assembly here today.

He said this to answer a question from Sungai Burung state assemblyman Datuk Shamsudin Lias regarding the allocation and assistance to flood victims.

Amirudin added that the state government has also allocated RM31 million for the implementation of several post-flood projects such as the clearing of landslides which have blocked several roads at the Selangor and Negeri Sembilan border.

“The state government through related agencies has also carried out repair works along several rivers and the process is nearly complete,” he said.
