PETALING JAYA, Aug 28 — Over 1,000 residents took part in the Petaling Jaya City Council’s (MBPJ) Mesra Rakyat programme, held in the Seri Setia state constituency earlier today.
Its state assemblyman Halimey Abu Bakar said the programme involved the participation of residents from Zones Four, 21, 22, 23 and 24, with the aim of fostering closer ties between leaders, agencies and locals.
“This is not the first time such a programme has been held. Even before I became a council member MBPJ has been organising such activities to strengthen relations with local residents
“Today we see people from all walks of life and ages, with Malays, Chinese and Indians present and taking part in various activities,” he said at the programme held at SS5 in Kelana Jaya.
Some of the programme’s activities include silat performances, exhibitions, netball, futsal, colouring activities, batik embroidery, as well as various uniform and parade presentations from government agencies.
The programme also saw the Seri Setia state constituency and Team Selangor present donations of food baskets to 20 police and military veterans.
