Shah Alam, Sept 27 – Some 36 women from Helang Hikers Team Selangor has joined the Jelajah Ekspedisi Gunung Yong Yap and Gunung Yong Belar, last weekend.
Its chief secretary Syahaizel Keman said the programme aims to encourage a healthy lifestyle by applying values and awareness of preserving natural treasures.
“This programme aims to increase theoretical and practical understanding of mountain climbing and environmental aspects.
“This series hopes to empower women with knowledge of climbing safety and techniques that are seldom revealed to them,” he said when contacted.
According to Syahaizel, a similar programme is scheduled for November with an expedition to Mount Nuang.
“The expedition will offer practical experience and essentially increase the appreciation towards the environment,” he added.
