Affordable sales help lessen burden of over 1,000 families — Taman Medan rep

PETALING JAYA, Sept 14 — Over 1,000 families in Taman Medan have benefitted from the affordable sales programme, which was held since February.

Its state representative Syamsul Firdaus Mohamed Supri said that the initiative, organised by the Selangor Agricultural Development Corporation (PKPS), was held eight times in the state constituency.

“This weekend, we will continue at two locations. We will choose a suitable area, focusing on heavily populated locations with those in the low-income group.

“We received encouraging support from the residents here during the programme. They also requested that it be held more often as they feel the pinch from the price hike. So, we will try to help them,” he told SelangorKini.

Today, the Jelajah Ehsan Rakyat initiative in the Taman Medan state constituency was held at the Taman Jaya commercial centre and Masjid Nurul Ehsan’s compound.

A total of 600 chickens and 600 packs of 10 kilogrammes (kg) of rice were sold out within three hours. Apart from that, grade B eggs and cooking oil were among the hot items sold at the programme.

A similar programme was also held concurrently at Surau Jamiah Meru Tengah and Dewan Orang Ramai Kampung Tok Muda Kapar from 9am until 1pm.

Other areas covered include Dataran Pekan Bagan Terap, Apartment Palma, Flat 940 Pandan Indah, Jalan Technology 3/9 Kota Damansara and Taman Dengkil Jaya night market site.

The state government had allocated RM10 million for the initiative across the 56 state constituencies, from August 31 until December 31.
