Health, insurance schemes among state initiatives to safeguard people’s welfare

SHAH ALAM, Sept 29 — Health and insurance coverage are among the focus of the state government in reducing the burden on the people in Selangor.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said this is realised through the implementation of Insurans Hayat Selangor (Insan) free general insurance scheme that benefits six million people in Selangor with a total protection coverage value of RM60 billion.

“This is one of the moves that shows health and insurance coverage are among the things that needed to be championed by the state government administration.

“With a coverage of up to RM10,000 per individual, this will really help reduce the burden of those in need,” he said on Facebook today.

On August 30, the Menteri Besar announced that six million people in Selangor would benefit from the insurance scheme, with the premium cost fully borne by the state government.

Offering coverage to those from 30 days old to the elderly at 80, Insan seeks to ease the burden of those facing a myriad of problems with a coverage of up to RM10,000 for deaths, accidents and several types of injuries.

To qualify for protection under Insan, the recipient must either be born in Selangor or be a voter in the state.

Registration for Insan will be open at the community service centres in all state constituencies from October 1.
