Hindus invited to apply for MBI aid in conjunction with Deepavali

SHAH ALAM, Sept 26 — Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated) or MBI has allocated RM500,000 to help non-Muslim residents prepare for their festivities in 2022.

As such, Hindus in Selangor are invited to apply for assistance at their respective state constituency community service centres, for the upcoming Deepavali celebrations next month, said MBI’s corporate social responsibility head Ahmad Azri Zainal Nor.

“RM400,000 of the allocation still remains, so low-income families are welcome to apply in order to reduce the burden of their spending costs.

“The aid will be channelled, either as cash or food baskets. So any Hindu families needing help should apply immediately,” he told SelangorKini.

For this year, Selangor also prepared Jom Shopping Raya assistance with RM8 million in allocations, of which RM3.34 million was reserved in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidilfitri in May.

The aid is aimed at low-income groups, as part of the state government’s long-term welfare protection measures and to look after the people’s well-being.

The provision of the aid is carried out at the community service centres in each area, per the main ethnic component and festivity being celebrated.
