SHAH ALAM, Sept 14 — Over 10,000 people in Selangor have benefitted from the Jelajah Ehsan Rakyat (JER) initiative, which offers fresh goods at lower prices compared to the market, through savings amounting to RM545,000.

Selangor Agricultural Development Corporation (PKPS) chief executive officer Dr Mohamad Khairil Mohamad Razi said the agency has garnered RM1.04 million in sales during the programme that was held in 54 locations in 17 state constituencies.

He said that based on the encouraging responses received in the first week of the programme, PKPS expected the sales and subsidy distribution to the people in Selangor to increase.

“Therefore, PKPS has mobilised our assets and manpower to ensure that this programme could run smoothly in accordance with the announcement made by Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari previously.

“A total of 100 PKPS staff and officers, as well as volunteers, will be participating in the programme and nine lorries will make its round throughout the state every day except Monday, from 9am until 1pm,” he said in a statement.

He added that each lorry carries six basic food products, which included chicken, meat, fish, rice, cooking oil and chicken egg.

“The location for the sales programme would focus on urban poor areas with the cooperation of Community Service Centre (PKM) officers and local community leaders,” he said.

The programme, which began on September 6 until December 6, offers food items that are 30 per cent cheaper than the market price.

The public could visit PKPS’s social media platform or via https://linktr.ee/myPKPS to get the latest updates on the location of the sales programme.
