Le Tour de Langkawi organiser unveils six world tour teams for Asia’s premier race

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 2 — Le Tour de Langkawi 2022 (LTdL22) organiser Human Voyage today announced that six teams with World Tour status will compete in Asia’s premier cycling tour race from October 11 to 18.

The six teams are UAE Team Emirates of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Cofidis (France), Lotto Soudal (Belgium), EF Education-EasyPost (United States), Movistar (Spain) and Astana-Qazaqstan of Kazakhstan.

LTdL22 chief operating officer Shahaizereen Abdul Hamid said they are very proud to be able to bring in six of the best professional teams in the World Team list of the International Cycling Union (UCI) this year.

“Out of these six World Teams, five will be making their debut in LTdL as Astana Qazaqstan had participated several times previously.

“The participation of these top-class teams will make this year’s edition one of the best ever organised in terms of the quality of participation of the world’s leading teams where it will present world-class competition to local and foreign cycling fans,” he said in a statement today.

Shahaizereen also said three teams with ProTeam status had already confirmed their participation in the 26th edition of the tour.

They are LTdL regulars Drone Harper-Androni Giacattoli of Italy, UNO-X Pro Cycling of Norway and Belgium’s Alpecin-Deceuninck.

“We are in the midst of confirming another team to fill the ProTeam slot,” he added.
