PETALING JAYA, Sept 24 — The Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated) or MBI has contributed almost RM8 million to various Islamic religious institutions in the state since 2019.
Its Corporate Social Responsibility head Ahmad Azri Zainal Nor said the amount involves aid to mosques (RM4.3 million), suraus (RM3.1 million), and Sekolah Rendah Agama (RM1 million) throughout Selangor.
“Every year during Ramadan month, we will also give aid to the Muslims houses of worship for the ‘imarah’ activities and many have applied for it.
“This year, we allocated RM1.5 million for the RM500 special financial aid to imam, bilal, siak and village chiefs,” he said at a ceremony to present incentives to Muassasah Haj pilgrims from the Seri Setia state constituency here today.
Ahmad Azri said MBI has also provided aid to residents through their associations and non-government-organisations (NGOs) that wanted to organise programmes that benefit the people.
During Ramadan this year, MBI allocated RM3 million for the Ihya’ Ramadan programme that included cash aid to asnaf fakir (tithe recipients) and the poor as well as food packs for buka puasa.
