Morib community service centre promotes free water scheme for benefit of many

By Norrasyidah Arshad

KUALA LANGAT, Sept 4 — The Morib state constituency’s community service centre will mobilise its members to reach out to the public and publicise the Air Darul Ehsan free water incentive scheme.

Its state assemblyman Hasnul Baharuddin said this comes after the announcement by Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari on the scheme’s eligibility threshold for applicants, which was raised from under RM4,000 in household income to RM5,000.

“This change enables more residents to benefit from the scheme, first introduced in 2008, and also eases the burden on the residents.

“Currently there are still residents who remain unaware of this initiative. So we will mobilise community service centre members to spread the word, so they are eligible to apply for the scheme immediately,” he said to SelangorKini.

Hasnul was speaking at the Selangor Agro Market “Jawafest” 2022 programme, held at Taman Sri Putra yesterday.

During the state-wide celebrations to mark the 65th National Day in Dataran Kemerdekaan Shah Alam on Tuesday night (August 30), Amirudin said an additional 100,000 user accounts will enjoy the Air Darul Ehsan Scheme, which entitles applicants to 20 cubic metres of free water, fully subsidised by the state government at over RM30 million.

At present, a total of 237,000 user accounts enjoy the Air Darul Ehsan Scheme, and registration remain open to Selangor residents until December 31, 2024.

Online applications can be made at https://www.airselangor.com/residential/skim-air-darul-ehsan/

To qualify, an applicant must be a Malaysian citizen as well as a Selangor resident. Their residential premise must also be an individual meter type, with each applicant only eligible to apply for a single account.
