SHAH ALAM, Sept 22 — Approximately 120 people and 100 motorcycles participated in the Merdeka Convoy to Pantai Remis in Jeram, Kuala Selangor, organised by Team Selangor on Sunday (September 18).
Its chief secretariat Syahaizel Keman said the programme was held to encourage patriotism, as part of the Malaysia Day celebrations.
He said the participants kicked off at Kuang, Kajang, Kuala Kubu Bharu and Batang Kali, and arrived at Pantai Remis at 10am.
“Asides from the convoy, 55 participants also took part in leisurely cycling over 20 km in distance.
“The participants utilised the village route around Jeram and were accompanied by local Team Selangor coordinators, Malaysia Volunteers Corps Department (Rela) members, as well as the police,” Syahaizel said in a statement.
He added the participants later conducted cleaning-up activities at the Pantai Remis area, which was also attended by Bukit Melawati state assemblyman Juwairiya Zulkifli.
“A total of 100 kg in waste was successfully collected and separated, to be recycled,” Syahaizel said.
