SUBANG, Sept 8 — The Selangor Aviation Show 2022 (SAS 2022) saw a strong turnout for its second instalment with 15,000 people to have registered as of 9am today.

State executive councillor for investment, industry and trade Dato’ Teng Chang Khim said the figure exceeded the state government’s initial target of 8,000 visitors.

“This year, with interest from the industry and the public, we are targeting around 8,000 visitors, focusing on industry professionals and trade visitors for the first two days, and members of the public on the third day.

“The aviation industry is one of the high-impact industries that Selangor has identified, which would generate multiple benefits for the state’s economic growth in the next decade.

“Although the industry has been hit the hardest since 2020, we are now beginning to see the aviation industry thriving, with domestic and global flights picking up,” he said when delivering his speech during the opening ceremony of SAS 2022 at the SkyPark Regional Aviation Centre (SkyPark RAC), here today.

The event was graced by Raja Muda of Selangor Tengku Amir Shah. Also in attendance were Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari and Finance Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz.

Teng said the air show will focus mainly on the business and general aviation community located within and outside of the Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport, or Subang Airport.

“Subang is a natural site to host this event, where some hangars and apron space are being deployed for the exhibitions and other parallel activities, including static aircraft displays.

“SAS 2022 will not be happening without the strong and full support from our partners and supporters from throughout the aerospace industry and we would like to sincerely thank all of them.

“This year, we welcome Embraer as our Platinum Sponsor. Embraer is a high-profile business aviation player and a maker of commercial airliners, who is joining SAS for the second time and we hope to see them grow their business here in Selangor,” he said.

The three-day event also features industry-specific talks and forums to share the latest information, knowledge and news among the attendees as well as its visitors.

Participants also have a chance to get the latest updates and lookout for new business opportunities as well as build long-term relationships with other industry players.
