Section 16 PKNS flat no longer able to support habitation, needs renovation — Assemblyman

By Sofia Nasir

SHAH ALAM, Sept 7 — The Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS) flat in Section 16 is no longer suited for habitation and requires considerable renovation works, said Kota Anggerik state assemblyman Najwan Halimi.

He said the housing project, constructed in 1969, suffers various problems including to its wiring, drainage and sewage systems.

“A cursory view of the flat’s exterior structure appears to be intact and beautiful. But internally, much renovation is needed.

“It is already over 50 years old, hence why I suggested the state government include a redevelopment plan in the First Selangor Plan (RS-1),” Najwan said.

He was speaking at a live talkshow broadcasted on Media Selangor’s Facebook page and the SelangorTV YouTube channel yesterday night.

During the RS-1 debate in the Selangor State Legislative Assembly session last month, Najwan praised the plan’s implementation as an example for all states, including the Federal government.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari tabled RS-1, the state development framework for a five-year period and involving RM212.44 billion in total value.
