SHAH ALAM, Sept 30 — The recently-concluded Selangor Aviation Show 2022 (SAS 2022) has managed to record approximately RM1.06 billion in total transaction value throughout its three-day run at the Skypark Regional Aviation Centre, earlier this month.
The event, from September 8 until September 10, also saw an estimated 10,563 people, which surpassed its initial visitor target of 8,000.
Invest Selangor Bhd (Invest Selangor) said the annual event managed to assemble some 62 exhibitors from five countries, representing the world’s top aerospace and aviation industries players, who displayed their exhibits either on the tarmac or in exhibition booths.
The number of static aircraft on display this year is 30, almost double that of SAS 2021. Among the prominent static aircraft exhibits were the Falcon 8X by Dassault, the B Cessna CAR V by HM/PA, and the P. 180 Avanti belonging to Kris Sakti.
“As well as this, 13 Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) on various aerospace industry sub-sector collaborations were signed during SAS 2022.
“The memoranda cover various collaborative issues like research and development for the aerospace industry, dual licence and training, one-stop maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) centres for drones, and the maintenance of amphibious aircrafts.
“This includes collaboration between Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated) and 11 aerospace organisations including Aerodyne Group, Asia AeroTechnic Sdn Bhd, GE Engine Services Malaysia Sdn. Bhd, Hicom-Teck See Manufacturing Sdn Bhd, Sapura Industrial Berhad and Smartlink Engineering Sdn Bhd,” it said in a statement today.
Invest Selangor added that SAS 2022 also saw a collaboration between Selangor Aviation Technology and Innovation Sdn Bhd (Selati) and China’s Hong Kong’s Volar Air Mobility Ltd (Volar).
“Hong Kong-based green aviation technology company Volar inked the biggest MoU at the air show at RM675.1 million (US$150 million), aiming to introduce the first green air taxi service in Malaysia within two years.
“The collaboration will seek to promote Malaysian green aviation, as the MoU entails potential aircraft manufacturing, MRO, air taxi service training, as well as research and development over a five-year period.
“As part of this joint undertaking, Volar and Selati will establish the think tank Institute for the Development of Electric Aviation Malaysia, to promote and support green aviation development,” it said.
Other highlight throughout SAS 2022 include the meet-and-greet session with the cast and crew of ‘Air Force The Movie: Selagi Bernyawa’, staring Aiman Hakim Redza, Datuk Adi Putra, Nas-T, Luqman Hafidz, Johan As’ari, and Pablo Amirul, Carmen Soo, and Iman Corrine.
In addition to stirring patriotic sentiments, the movie also furthers public interest in the aviation and aerospace industries.
