Unisel student won third place in National Nanotechnology Innovation Research Project Competition

SHAH ALAM, Sept 14 — Universiti Selangor (Unisel) Biotechnology Science student was crowned the third place winner in the Master’s Degree category at the National Nanotechnology Innovation Research Project Competition (PIN) on September 9.

Muhammad Hamdi Mat Saad through a research project titled ‘The Antibacterial Potential of Biosynthesised Silver Nanoparticles from Serratia Sp. Strain Aq5-Nt39 Against Aeromonas Hydrophila’ took home a trophy and RM500 in cash.

Unisel Corporate Communication director Hasril Abu Hassan said Muhammad Hamdi also emerged as the only student from a private higher education institution who is listed as among the six main winners from the two categories that were contested.

PIN, which took place from June 3 to August 8 was organised by the National Nanotechnology Centre under the Ministry of Science, Technology & Innovation (Mosti) in conjunction with the National Nano Programme 2022.

The competition aims to give postgraduate students the opportunity to present creative and innovative ideas in research. This includes the development of nanotechnology, which covers the production of materials, technology and application of nanotechnology in various sectors.
