Unity among Malaysians an extraordinary source of strength — MB

By Nasuha Badrul Huzaini

SHAH ALAM, Sept 16 — The unity among the Malaysians has proven to be an extraordinary source of strength especially during the nation’s fight against the Covid-19 outbreak, says Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.

In his Malaysia Day address today, the Menteri Besar said that the sense of togetherness, which was strengthened during the fight against the pandemic should be translated into other aspects of life to ensure that one of the Rukun Negara objectives for the country to become a prosperous nation could be achieved.

Amirudin said that the journey over six decades since the formation of Malaysia in 1963 had not been easy and was faced with various challanges.

“The challenges that were caused by tragedies, much like the Covid-19, have somewhat helped shaped the path and direction of our beloved country.

“It’s a relief seeing that the situation has almost returned back to normal. Efforts to recover the economy should be intensified.

Amirudin said that forming a modern nation is not an easy feat as it involves many sacrifices and tough decisions to be made.

He said these are to ensure that it suits the change in time that demands a new democratic and constitutional administration.

“There are many things that we can learn from past experiences and how former leaders had acted in saving the unity of the people and the federation of the nation.

“Efforts towards those ideals are still relevant to this day. The poverty gap between the richest and the poorest is still very large, and the same goes for the development gap between urban and rural areas that must be addressed.

“With that, I would like to wish all Malaysians a very Happy Malaysia Day,” he said in the statement.
