Warning of thunderstorms in three Selangor districts, eight states until 9pm

SHAH ALAM, Sept 15 — Thunderstorms with heavy rain and strong winds have been forecast to hit three districts in Selangor and eight other states until 9pm today.

The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) in a Facebook post said the storms would occur in Hulu Selangor, Gombak and Hulu Langat.

The same weather condition will also take place in Kedah (Langkawi, Kubang Pasu, Kota Setar, Pokok Sena and Padang Terap), Perak (Kinta, Perak Tengah, Kampar, Hilir Perak, Batang Padang and Muallim), Terengganu (Dungun and Kemaman, and Pahang (Tanah Tinggi Cameron, Lipis, Jerantut, Bentong, Maran, Kuantan, Pekan and Rompin).

Other states include Negeri Sembilan (Jelebu), Johor (Mersing and Kota Tinggi), Sarawak: Kuching (Bau and Kuching), Samarahan (Samarahan and Asajaya) and Miri (Beluru and Telang Usan) and Sabah: Sandakan (Telupid and Kinabatangan)

According to MetMalaysia, the warning is issued when there are signs of thunderstorms with rainfall intensity exceeding 20mm/hour or is expected to take place for over an hour.

“Thunderstorms warning is a short-term warning which is valid within six hours after it is issued,” the statement read, issued at 5.45pm.
