Animas holding two-day Anifest to empower local animation works

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 16 — A two-day Animation Festival (Anifest) is being held at KL Gateway Mall hall here.

The organiser, Malaysian Animation Association (Animas), in a statement today, said the sixth Anifest, which opened yesterday with the theme ‘Education and Career’, was held following the huge response from local animation fans.

It said the festival was held to promote and give recognition to local animation works, especially scripts, and to recognise the efforts of individuals concerned for their contributions to the industry.

“Anifest aims to strengthen the relationship between animation industry players and spin-off and merchandise producers to together explore the market more effectively to give an impact on the community at large,” Animas said.

It said it was also to promote the creative industry, through innovation, evolution, and transformation.

The sixth Anifest involves the participation of 60 exhibitors, and there will also be free talks and workshops on animation.

Apart from that, Animas, in collaboration with Rasuah Buster, is organising a doodle drawing competition themed ‘Satu Jari Lawan Rasuah’ to raise public awareness of the need to eliminate corruption.
