Anti-party hopping law gives hope to Pakatan in eliminating traitors — Amirudin

By Zareef Muzammil

MENTAKAB, Oct 20 — The anti-party hopping law passed by the Dewan Negara on August 9 has given hope to Pakatan Harapan (PH) to rid itself of members who have strayed from the original struggle.

Selangor and Pahang PH chairman Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the law will help in regaining the people’s trust which was affected by the change in government following the Sheraton Move in February 2020.

“Ever since the Sheraton Move occurred, the country is no longer politically stable, where we keep changing prime ministers and ministers, as well as introducing conflicting policies.

“Perhaps (PH) being betrayed happened for a reason, as it was a chance for us to eliminate traitors. Opportunistic defectors can be removed from both among our ranks and from the nation’s political history,” he said.

Amirudin was speaking at the PH #MohTukor roadshow in Mentakab, Pahang, yesterday evening which was attended by thousands despite the drizzly weather.

On July 28, the Dewan Rakyat passed the Constitution (Amendment) (No. 3) Bill 2022, with a two-thirds majority vote. With this, any MPs who leave their parties will end up forfeiting their seats.

Meanwhile, the chairman said PH will be able to take over Pahang in the upcoming 15th General Election (GE15), based on hard work and enthusiasm shown by all parties.

He called upon Pahang’s people to continue showing their strong support and help PH achieve victory in Umno’s stronghold state.

“With strong spirits, I am confident that Pahang can be won over by PH in GE15, provided everyone works hard and not merely be dependent on one particular person.

“We have to prove it as the state remains a challenge for us. After this, whenever someone greets you ‘Assalamualaikum’, reply ‘Waalaikumussalam, MohTukor’. Let the word ‘MohTukor’ be etched in the back of their minds and in their dreams,” Amirudin said.

Amirudin added the Federal government will not decide to hold GE15 during the monsoon season, if they want to save the country.

He said the abrupt dissolution of Parliament by Barisan Nasional (BN), which paved the way for the election, has forced Malaysia to deal with untoward situations like floods.

“BN thinks of saving the country? Is Perikatan Nasional (PN) thinking of saving the country? The prediction of rain and floods did not come from us, but it was based on research by the Malaysian Meteorological Department.

“His Majesty the Yang di-Pertuan Agong also decreed the Federal government focus on addressing flood issues. Go check Istana Negara’s statement on Parliament’s dissolution.

“Read the statement thoroughly. His Majesty had expressed frustration over several actions, leaving no other choice than to dissolve Parliament for the sake of a more stable and better government,” Amirudin said.
