Bus with 30 students, 10 teachers crashes near Gua Musang

GUA MUSANG, Oct 31 — A group of 10 teachers and 30 students back from a trip to Kuala Lumpur faced anxious moments when the bus they were travelling in crashed before ending up in an oil palm plantation at kilometre (km) 44 Jalan Gua Musang – Kuala Krai here this morning.

Gua Musang district police chief Supt Sik Choon Foo said in the 6.15am incident, all of the students, aged between seven and 12, sustained light injuries.

He said the group was heading back to Pasir Puteh after a trip to Zoo Negara in the federal capital.

“Further investigations found that at one point, the steering wheel failed to function causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle, which then crashed and ended up in an oil palm plantation,” he said in a statement today.

The victims were taken to the Chiku 3 health clinic for treatment, Sik said.
