SEPANG, Oct 30 — The Integrated Development Region in South Selangor (Idriss) involving Sepang and Kuala Langat is expected to boost Selangor’s economy.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the agenda contained in the First Selangor Plan (RS-1) would guarantee economic growth and job opportunities, in addition to supporting the people in coping with the anticipated economic recession next year.

“This integrated development area covers the construction of residential, commercial, resorts, tourism and industrial areas.

“There are seven high-impact projects which include the smart industrial park, Selangor Aerospace Park and Goldcoast. An important aspect to the development is the third port at Pulau Carey,” he said at a press conference after launching Idriss at the Jelajah Selangor Penyayang roadshow, here today.

Amirudin also announced that executive councillor for investment Dato’ Teng Chang Khim was appointed to lead the mission of promoting high-impact investment activities, while the Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated) or MBI to handle the development.

“Some projects that passed will be carried out next year. Furthermore, after we presented the RS-1, some companies showed interest and began discussions.

“Due to that, development projects, which involved the use of land area wider than 40,000 acres, have now increased to 41,000,” he said.

In July 2022, during the tabling of the RS-1, Amirudin announced that Sepang and Kuala Langat will receive an economic boost through Idriss, which is estimated to be worth RM1 trillion.

The two districts were identified for regional-based development to ensure equitable distribution of economic activity in the state.

The development of integrated private investments in the two districts are supported by the provision of equipment by Selangor and incentives from the federal government.
